This painting began after our visit to Portugal in 2022. I finished it in September of 2023. The windsurfers on a windy day at the beautiful Guincho beach was awesome to see. I used my photographs for reference while allowing colors and textures to be arranged in a composition. The painting felt finished when I added the white clouds on the left. I painted a number of small studies which I have sold or given away. Kite surfing is popular in California but I didn’t notice its appeal until I had traveled across the Atlantic to the country where so much exploration began.
