Fulton Crossing
Artist Statement:
Guides created in June of 2020, was inspired by Black Lives Matter. I did not march during this tumultuous, stirring time out of caution for the corona virus. I am glad to create this art in support of the movement. I appreciate the chance to be included in an exhibit in response to what is happening. I have painted Harriet Tubman (1822-1913) numerous times since 2016. She gives me courage by her example. I admire the way she trusted God and followed the North Star to gain her freedom from slavery and then went back into danger to free other slaves. She is a model for young women today. She was a general in the Civil War. She was a strategic thinker. She founded a home for elderly African Americans.
