Artist Statement:

Crow on the Line is one of my black bird paintings. I have printed my photos of crows and I have painted over the photos. In Crow on the Line I painted referring to the photo. It is not an overpainted photograph. Like most of us I have had many experiences with this smart bird. I have fond memories of my son cawing back to crows as a toddler. Blackbirds have been in the background of my experience. At this time they are in the forefront. While painting I forget about the image and just feel the paint and then come back to the dark image of the crow. 

In these times, the Beatles song Blackbird comes to mind. “All your life.     You were only waiting for this moment to arise”
